08. Madikeri Fort, Coorg
Madikeri Fort is one of the popular tourist places in Coorg. Madikeri Fort, first built by Mudurja in the last quarter of the 17th century, was later replaced with stones and bricks by Tipu Sultan, who named the fort Jaffna. The fort has a rich history and has seen many wars and arrangements.
It was ruled by Dodavira Rajendra in 1790. It was later replaced by King Lingarajendra Wodeyar II. The British also rebuilt the fort twice. 11. Nalknad Aramane Palace, Coorg
Yavakabadi is situated near Nalkanad Armane village in Kakkabe town of Coorg region. It is situated at a distance of 45 km from Madikeri. It was built in 1792 by Doda Virajendra, the leader of Haleri. Later in 1796, Doda Virajendra married Mahadev Ammaji here.
He built the palace after escaping from Tipu Sultan's troops, thus coming into an underground tunnel inside the palace and ending at Madikeri. Its location on the top of the mountain also added to the advantage.
There are many stories associated with this place which narrates various historical events. Chikkaveera Rajendra, the last emperor of the Halleri family, also took refuge during the British invasion of the Kool district.

Tirtha Kundike or Brahma Kundike is a small fountain situated at an altitude of 1276 meters above sea level in Talakaveri. It is said to be the origin of river Kaveri. The annual festival celebrated here lasts for 8 days. 'Urs' is organized to celebrate these saints.
